Linksys SRW2024 enabling lldp


Protocol LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) is not enabled by default. Can be enabled using SNMP settings.

LLDP can very useful and is supported by SRW with MED extension.


  • switch firmware version: 1.0.2
  • ability to use lcli
  • access to snmp tools on local computer


  • enabling snmp
  • enabling LLDP

Enabling SNMP using lcli

  • log into switch using telnet and enable lcli (CTRL-Z)
  • console# conf
  • console(config)# snmp-server community public rw

(Warnig: change public community name to own community name or later disable write option)

Enabling LLDP from local computer

  • check current for settings:
snmpwalk XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX  -v2c -c public

(default proper response when lldp is disabled): iso. = INTEGER: 2

  • enable LLDP (set value type integer to 1)
snmpset -v2c -c public XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX i 1

(response should be: iso. = INTEGER: 1)

i 1 - type: integer, value: 1

Enabling LLDP from cli (not tested yet)

snmp-server set rlLldpEnabled  rlLldpEnabled true

Final steps

  • check command on switch: # show lldp nei
# show lldp nei
